Our Programme at a Glance
The Construction for Women Mentorship Programme is a free service, offering women access to support from experienced industry professionals for a full year, as well as a dedicated support group.
Mentors are drawn from across the built environment — including trades, project management, engineering, and design — and offer tailored, practical guidance to help participants navigate the early stages of their careers. Mentorships are structured to support goal setting, skill development, and confidence building, while also providing a sounding board for challenges in the workplace.
This long-term relationship is designed to reduce drop-off rates among new entrants and early careers professionals, and ensure our training programme graduates not only access opportunities but remain and grow within the industry.

What Makes a Good Mentor
Mentoring at Construction for Women is about supporting and encouraging women as they navigate their careers. A good mentor listens actively, shares insights, and helps mentees build confidence and set goals.
Key qualities include:
-
Genuine interest in helping women grow
-
Respect and empathy for their experiences
-
Strong listening skills
-
Ability to guide without having all the answers
Mentors don’t need all the answers—they guide mentees with encouragement, insight, and honest feedback, helping empower the next generation of women leaders in construction.

What Are The Benefits of Becoming a Mentor
Mentoring is a two-way journey of growth and learning. Many mentors find that the experience is as rewarding for them as it is for their mentees. By becoming a mentor, you can:
-
Build new skills and gain fresh perspectives
-
Boost your confidence and sense of purpose
-
Make a meaningful impact on someone’s career and life
-
Deepen your understanding of the challenges women face in construction
-
Expand your professional network
Above all, being a good mentor means investing time to understand your mentee, embracing new ideas, and growing together through the relationship.

What Makes a Good Mentee
A good mentee is actively engaged in their own growth and development. They seek guidance but take responsibility for their progress by setting goals and coming prepared to each session.
Key qualities include:
-
Taking initiative and ownership of their learning
-
Being open to feedback and new perspectives
-
Communicating honestly and respectfully
-
Showing commitment, curiosity, and a willingness to grow
Mentorship works best when mentees are proactive partners in the process, ready to reflect and act on the support they receive.
